Badsberg bottles ‘an officer and a gentleman’!

A "general" of a pinotage!

The Badsberg Wine Cellar outside Rawsonville in the Breedekloof Wine District won the General Smuts Trophy at the 2016 South African Young Wine Show with its 2016 Pinotage. After 6 months of aging in French oak barrels, this wine is now available for those who appreciate excellence.

The General Smuts Trophy is awarded to the best young wine of that particular vintage. Last year Badsberg’s 2016 Pinotage was selected from 1 868 entries from wineries across South Africa for this honour.

The Badsberg Pinotage 2016 is a dark red wine with a pink-purple tinge and robust red berry and plum flavours. The ripe plum and berry flavours are integrated with tannins to create the perfect balance for a lasting aftertaste.

Only a limited volume of 1716 bottles were bottled and it is only available at the cellar or online at at R320 per bottle.
