New VW Passat drives 2 029km on one tank!

The new Volkswagen Passat 1.4 TSI DSG has set a new South African record by a petrol passenger car of driving over 2000km on a single tank!

The new Passat drove a distance of 2029 kilometres from the South African and Zimbabwean border gate at Beit Bridge to Moorreesburg - about 90km north of Cape Town - in two and half days.

The average fuel consumption was 4.1 litres per 100km and total amount of fuel used was 83.19 litres. The average speed was 69km/h.

The sporty, expressive design of the CLA is now being honed still further in a facelift involving new bumpers, a diamond radiator grille in black as standard and new light-alloy wheels. The interior also benefits from numerous enhancements, among them new seat covers and trim parts, as well as chrome-plated controls. To coincide with its 20-year anniversary, the archetypal compact roadster was relaunched in April with a new name - the SLC - as well as significantly optimised technology and an enhanced look. The name change acknowledges the close relationship with the C-Class.

The new addition to the model line-up is the sporty top-of-the-line Mercedes-AMG SLC 43. In visual terms, stand-out features include the standard-fit diamond radiator grille and the LED Intelligent Light Syste. Prices now start at R680 600 for the SLC 200 entry-level model with an output of 135 kW.

The all-new 2017 Ford GT will be available in a limited-edition Heritage theme honouring the GT40 Mark II driven to victory by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon at Le Mans in 1966 - part of the historic 1-2-3 Ford GT sweep. The car will feature unique interior and exterior colour themes, and an exclusive wheel finish.

"Celebrating the anniversary of Ford's historic victories at Le Mans has always been a part of the return of the Ford GT," said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, product development, and chief technical officer. "The 2017 Ford GT '66 Heritage Edition is a stunning tribute to the car that kicked off Ford's string of Le Mans victories in 1966."

Following its premiere in the S-Class, Mercedes-Benz is now offering its most advanced hybrid technology in the C-Class. The dynamism and efficiency of the C 350 e sedan makes it a convincing proposition in its segment.

With a range of 31 kilometres in purely electric mode, local emission-free driving is now a reality. Its four-cylinder petrol engine, in conjunction with a powerful electric motor, gives it a total system output of 205 kW and torque of 600 Nm. The new C 350 e delivers the performance of a sports car and yet offers certified consumption figures of just 2.1 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of 65 grams per kilometre.
