De Krans Private Cellar in the Klein Karoo has underlined its versatility as a producer of award-winning fortified and table wines when its Pinotage Rosé 2017 received a gold medal at the Rosé Rocks! competition. Rosé Rocks!’ is South Africa’s first wine competition which is entirely dedicated to rosé wines and seeks to not only acknowledge excellence in rosé winemaking, but also to market and promote the category in SA.

Jason’s Hill excels at Gold Wine Awards

The Jason’s Hill Private Cellar in the picturesque Slanghoek Valley walked off with no fewer than three gold medals at the Gold Wine Awards, as well as earning first place on the Top 5 EWP (Excellent Wine at the Price) list.

Gold medals were awarded to the Jason's Creek Classic Red 2015, Jason's Hill Shiraz 2013 and the Jason's Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2015.

This year's Standard Bank/Chenin Blanc Top 10 Challenge attracted 136 entries, up almost 10% on 2016, with all the major wine-producing areas represented. The five-member judging panel, tasting all submissions “blind”, short-listed 33 wines for consideration before deciding on the ten eventual winners.

Die De Krans-wynkelder buite Calitzdorp in die Klein Karoo het weer eens die gehalte van sy wyne bewys met nie minder nie as vier goue medaljes op die jongste Gold Wine Awards. Die wyne wat op hierdie kompetisie in goud getooi is, is De Krans se Free-Run Chenin Blanc 2017, Pinotage Rosé 2017, Touriga Nacional 2016 en A Twist of Fate 2015.
