Boplaas, Lanzerac also among Michelangelo award winners

Double gold!

Boplaas and Lanzerac, two top wine producers from two completely different wine regions, were also among the gold medal winners at the recent Michelangelo International Wine Awards. Boplaas took home no fewer than seven medals, with Lanzerac bagging three.

Boplaas took Double Gold for its Gamka 2015, a red blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barocca, Touriga Francesa and Shiraz, with three gold medals being awarded to three of its port-style wines – the Cape Vintage Reserve 2013, the Cape Vintage Reserve 2014 and the Boplaas Tawny.

De Krans Private Cellar in the Klein Karoo has underlined its versatility as a producer of award-winning fortified and table wines when its Pinotage Rosé 2017 received a gold medal at the Rosé Rocks! competition. Rosé Rocks!’ is South Africa’s first wine competition which is entirely dedicated to rosé wines and seeks to not only acknowledge excellence in rosé winemaking, but also to market and promote the category in SA.
